A family of foxes found themselves homeless after builders moved onto their territory.
The mother and her six newborn cubs had hunted out shelter from the winter winds under the floorboards of a derelict house in Laindon.
However, when builders were asked to renovate the building, the mother ran away.

Now the babies are recuperating at the Canvey home of animal lover Veronica Mepham, who runs the Rescuers' Wildlife Sanctuary in Watlington Road, Benfleet.
Veronica said: "When the fox cubs came to me they were so tiny they hadn't even opened their eyes yet, but they were really healthy and fat which was great to see."
