A school which linked up with a neighbouring college to improve its failing standards today announced it is to expand to include a sixth form.
James Hornsby High School, in Leinster Road, Laindon, is preparing to open its doors to students over the age of 16 after battling to boost education provision for 11 to 16-year-olds.
Bosses at the school, under special measures, say it is able to increase facilities due to the unique partnership the school has with Greensward College, Hockley, which was called in to help boost falling standards and to share expertise and teachers.
However, the future looks bright for the school after it gained an official "good" report from its latest Government inspection, which shows improvement in student attainment and behaviour.
