A new multi-million entertainment complex for Maldon opened its door with over 1,000 people attending on their first day.
After 18 months of building work, Madison Heights in Park Drive, held a public open day on Sunday, but officially opened for business this week on Monday.
Ecstatic - Owner Mike Kirkham and manager Jon Tucker outside the new Madison Heights complex.
The £3.5million complex includes a 22-lane bowling alley, a snooker table centre with 16 championship tables and three restaurants ranging from a pizzeria to a 160-seater American diner and a formal Italian restaurant.
In June an adventure area for children called Monkey Puzzle will be introduced, with a 9m high tree which children can climb.
Jon Tucker, manager of Madison Heights, said that 900 people have applied for a lifetime membership, which costs £1, and the figure is still climbing.
Bowled Over: Chris Rickard, 15, and Lewis Barr, 14, try out the 22-lane bowling alley.
He said: "Sunday was fabulous and I am absolutely ecstatic after years of planning and building."
"Over 1,000 people came through the doors for the open day to see what was on offer and I think everybody was impressed."
Councillor Dennis Keighley, who attended the centre in a private party on Saturday, said: "It is very much welcomed by Maldon District Council as it will provide local employment and facilities for all age groups to enjoy."
