COLCHESTER United produced their worst performance of the season when being blown away by lowly Peterborough in farcical galeforce conditions at London Road.

The U's simply never got going against a Peterborough outfit who displayed far more passion and character and a greater desire to compete.

With the fierce wind at their backs, first half goals from David Farrell (26 mins) and Francis Green (39 mins) blasted the home side into a comfortable two-goal lead for half-time.

Leading scorer Leon McKenzie - 13 goals for the season - made the game safe 13 minutes from fulltime, playing against the lements. Arsenal loanee Graham Barrett netted a consolation effort three minutes from the end, but it's a game the U's will want to quickly forget.
