Walton Sea Cadets are the tops or almost.
The tiny unit has been voted second best in the country in a nationwide competition.
It was only the second time in nearly half a century the unit has reached the finals of the Canada Trophy for the country's top unit.
Commanding officer, newly-promoted Lt Cdr John Garrett said: "No other unit since 1945 has got this high. It's a wonderful achievement for the young people."
Mr Garrett, who has been commanding officer for more than ten years, has also been rewarded.
He is to be presented with the Captain Roddie Casement Sword for exceptional service to the Sea Cadet Corps .
The annual award named after the a late commanding officer of the corps will be presented by his son, Cdr Michael Casement, OBE RN.
Mr Garrett, who lives in Frinton, has served the unit for more than 20 years after leaving the Royal Navy.
