The Tory spokesman for further and higher education and lifelong learning visited a south Essex college to learn the nuts and bolts of life as an engineering student.
Alistair Burt MP toured the Thurrock and Basildon College campus in Woodview, Grays, with principal John Wallace and chairman of governors Mervyn Thomas.

Mr Burt admired the college's vocational training areas such as the hairdressing salons, beauty therapy suite and chatted to young students in the extensive motor vehicle, construction and engineering workshops.
