A final decision on whether a 42-bedroom hotel is to be built on Thorpe Bay's seafront has been put off once again.
Residents remain in limbo as Southend Council considers if plans for the development on the site of the Halfway Yacht Club will get the go-ahead.
Families living near the land, which includes the Halfway House pub, claimed the hotel would overlook their properties, cause mayhem with parking and create traffic congestion.
However, it is increasingly likely the scheme will go ahead as only the details of design and location have been sent back to the drawing board. Planning officer Mike Pregnall told members there was still room for "significant improvement" to the original scheme.
