The ladies section at Forrester Park Golf Club definitely drew the short straw with the weather this week, as their competition, 12-hole pairs Texas Scramble, was played in a wind strong enough to move balls on the green.
30 ladies braved the conditions with Chris Myers and Toni Aldous winning with 51.5.
They had a two shot margin to spare over Val Cummins and Jean Frost, who beat Jan Moggeridge and Zara Patel into third place, a further shot behind.
The men played the March medal with players in the silver division finding scoring much easier than the rest.
Philip Lowndes won the division with net 62 from Melvyn Goodchild with net 65.
The gold division was won by John Stevens with net 68, from Dale Whitnell net 70.
The bronze division went to Del Moggeridge with net 69, beating Eric Barker net 71 into second place.
On Thursday, the ladies of Channels Golf Club played their White Elephant competition over just 12 holes of the course which was at that time still very wet.
In this competition every player goes away with a prize but then every player brings a prize.
However, first choice of the prizes went to the player with the best score who was Suzanne Mitchell, playing off 15 handicap and scoring 24 points but only beating Pam Petley on countback, Pam had the same 24 points off her 28 handicap. Helen Davies took third spot, 22 points, playing off a handicap of 14.
