Detectives are hunting a gang of youths who attacked a teenager leaving him with a severe cut to his face.
Basildon officers are eager to speak to witnesses who may have seen the group assault the youngster and his friend.
A number of people are thought to have been enjoying a night drinking in nearby pubs while others got on and off trains heading in and out of London on the night of the incident.
The group of five or six youths set upon the two Canvey teenagers at Basildon railway station at about 9pm on Saturday.
One of the youngsters was left with a 5cm cut to his forehead.
he deep cut to the 16-year-old's head has left the youth with problems with his eyesight and he is still being treated for his injuries at Basildon Hospital.
