Police today issued a warning to shopkeepers in Southend and Rochford to be on the lookout for forged money.
The move comes after a man presented £120 worth of fake notes to a cashier at Somerfield supermarket, in Ashingdon Road, Rochford.
Police are linking the crime to other incidents of forged money being presented at various shops in Southend.
They issued a description of the suspects. The first man is described as aged in his 20s, around 6ft tall, with short black hair, wearing a black Gap top and black jeans.
His accomplice, who stayed in the car while the man paid with the forged money, is described as unshaven, with cropped ginger hair.
