A major revamp is in the pipeline at one of Colchester's museums in a bid to make it more accessible to the general public.
Plans are being drawn up for a series of improvements at the Tymperleys clock museum in Trinity Street.
Colchester Council's museums service is aiming to improve the ground-floor museum area and the gardens.
The planned work is in line with the service's action plan of keeping the museum's individual character while improving access and relevance to the general public.
Ken Jones, council portfolio holder for employment, economic development, leisure and tourism, said: "It is exciting times and there are exciting possibilities. We are now seeking resources."
The museum opened its doors to the public in 1987 after a priceless collection of clocks was given to Colchester by Bernard Mason, who was one of the town's leading industrialists.
