Firefighters from Grays tackled two suspicious fires in Aveley in the early hours on Sunday morning.
In the first two cars were badly damaged behind shops in the High Street at approaching 2am. The fire also caused slight damage to the rear of one of the shops.
Just over an hour later, the crews were at Toplands Avenue where vandals had released the brake on a mobile home, letting it roll downhill, coming to rest against a wall.
The home was then set alight.
In both incidents firefighters had to don breathing apparatus to tackle the flames.
