Work is finally under way on the last stage of the long-awaited Parkeston bypass.
The final development of the bypass, which will divert port traffic away from Parkeston village, started yesterday
New drainage, footpath reconstruction, surfacing work and the realignment of Station Road has also begun as part of related street works.
Essex County Council, in partnership with Harwich International Port, will carry out the work during the coming months.
Work on the bypass construction is expected to last six months and from March 18 port traffic, including HGV lorries, will be diverted along Station Road until it is completed.
