A hundred name petition has been handed to Havering Council objecting plans for a chemical storage site in Harold Hill.
Mayor of Havering and Heaton ward councillor Denis O'Flynn spearheaded the petition.
His moves follow the announcement of plans to convert a disused factory on the Briar Road estate into the storage area for used, redundant and out of date chemicals including ammonia.
Cllr O'Flynn said: "All of the residents I have spoken to are very worried about this and are anxious to see a block put on the plans."
