Inventor Trevor Byford is poised to make millions from a pioneering new gadget which protects innocent drivers from prosecution.
Trevor, of Badgers Close, Westcliff, has designed the trail-blazing device which records accidents from inside cars modelled on black box data recorders inside aircraft.
The 53-year-old was spurred into action after his son Christopher had an accident in his Mini in Prince Avenue, Westcliff.
Trevor said: "He was unharmed but his car was a write-off. It was very frustrating because he was innocent but we couldn't prove it. His insurance has rocketed now. The idea came from that."
Viewers can see Trevor and his invention tomorrow night on BBC 1's Best Inventions.
