Celebrations to mark the Queen's golden jubilee were today given a £25,000 injection by Southend Council.
The cash boost will be spent on a package of events to mark the Queen's 50th anniversary on the throne.
Details of the projects, including a seafront town party at the end of the Southend Airshow, are now emerging following a series of planning sessions by council officials.
They include:
Providing a pack for street party organisers containing advice on road closures and insurance
Helping with some of the administrative costs involved in putting on a street party
Presenting all primary school youngsters in the borough with a commemorative medal
Lighting a commemorative beacon on the pier as part of a nationwide beacon lighting event on Sunday, June 2
