Work will begin on the Virgin Active leisure centre in Rayleigh Road, Thundersley, at the end of this month.
Contractors will begin laying the foundations for the ambitious £6 million project within weeks.
The company, which owns the site, will take approximately seven months to construct the shell of the building before Active move in to fit it out.
