A charity global dance in Clacton has proved a great success.
The event was staged at Rumours nightclub, Rosemary Road, after the original venue was cancelled at the 11th hour.
Highfield Holiday Park, which was to stage the World DJ Day 2002, pulled out last week.
However, Rumours came to the rescue. Those who turned out for the event had a great time.
Insp Kevan Griggs, of Clacton police, said he had started his duty on Saturday morning.
"There were no reports of any problems at all from Rumours or around the venue," he said.
"The feedback I got was that it all went off very well. Those who attended were a nice bunch of people who were out for a good time and wanted to enjoy themselves."
Organisers Paul Hobbs, a Clacton-based DJ, and Steven Bain, said they raised just under £5,000.
Half will go to the main charity Nordoff Robbins, which helpes disabled children with music therapy.
The rest will go to the Windsor and Leas Schools, Clacton, and St Helena Hospice, as well as Cash 4 Causes.
