A pensioner has died following a road accident on the A12 at Hatfield Peverel.
Edward Watt, 72, of Shenfield Road, Brentwood, was travelling towards London when his silver Land Rover Freelander careered off the road.
It then veered to the left hand-side of the road and collided with a pillar of Terling Road bridge.
The accident happened at about 4pm on Saturday. The man was certified dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
