Blind Date girl Hannarle Davies, who proposed on the TV show, has confessed: "I'm not getting wed - it was a joke."
Hannarle, from Chafford Hundred, claimed she was never serious about marrying 26-year-old optician Mark Ackerell.
She also admitted they are not dating any more - and was reported as saying she even has another boyfriend.
The chirpy 28-year-old shop manager said the conversation she and Mark had with presenter Cilla Black was taken out of context.
She called off the romance soon after the show was filmed six months ago because she and Mark, from Aylesbury, Bucks, live too far apart.
Viewers heard Hannarle ask Mark on the Blind Date sofa: "What are you doing for the next 50 years?"
He replied: "I'm going to be spend it with you, aren't I?"
Hannarle then told Cilla to get another hat because she could feel a wedding coming on.
However, after the weekend TV showing Hannarle revealed: "Mark is a lovely guy but he lives a long way from me and we decided the distance was too far."
She said she and Mark will remain friends after they won a luxury date in Austria. They hit it off over a romantic dinner at their hotel.
