Uncertainty surrounding Blues chief Ron Martin's plans for a new Southend United stadium will not affect his other high-profile project - the town's new £41m college campus in the heart of Southend.
Mr Martin's plans for a new £12.5m ground on the Fossetts Farm site in Eastern Avenue are not going ahead, landowner Lansbury claims, leaving Southend United back at Roots Hall.
But beyond his involvement with the football club, the Billericay-based developer is also behind the plans for South East Essex College's new Southend town centre campus in Luker Road, work on which is due to start in November.
The new building will be accompanied by a major new retail shopping mall on the site of the old Odeon cinema in Southend High Street, also developed by Martin Dawn, of which Mr Martin is managing director.
Nobody from Martin Dawn was available to comment, but the college has insisted that whatever happens at Southend United, its plans were unaffected
A spokesman said: "There is nothing new to report. We are still going through the planning process at this stage.
"Nothing has changed."
Martin Dawn also has major plans for a site on the junction of Clay Hill Road and Cherrydown East in Basildon, currently occupied by the Essex Ford car dealership.
