The first prize in the Forrester Park Golf Club's annual Christmas draw was a magnificent hamper and it was won by the proprietor Tim Forrester-Muir.
The carol singing was led by the Little Totham church choir.
During the evening a cheque for £2,300 was collected from various competitions and events from the ladies, veterans and men's competitions which also included a generous donation from Britvic of Chelmsford.
58 veterans escaped from Christmas shopping duties and played a Christmas Divisional Stableford, with the Gold Division winner being vets captain Bob Nice with 42 points followed by Ivor Salter and Ray Quy both with 39 points.
The Silver Division winner was Derek Wallis with 44 points, followed in second place by Harry Cole and Joe Olley both with 37 points.
The ladies played their Yuletide competition with 70 ladies taking part.
