Colin "Jaws" Lloyd will get his teeth stuck into the Skol World Darts Championships which start at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet today (Thursday).
Lloyd, who is a familiar face in Colchester darts and lives at Witham, will line up alongside the biggest names in the game to contest a total prize fund of £225,000 with £100,000 going to the first player to record a televised nine dart finish, and the winner picking up £33,000
All the play is televised on Sky Sports, and unseeded Lloyd begins his challenge with a first round tie against number seven seed John Part, a game scheduled to start at 7pm on Friday.
If Lloyd makes it through to the second round he will meet the winner of the Peter Evison v Dennis Smith tie.
Chelmsford-based Rod Harrington, known as "The Prince of Style" is ranked at number six and takes on former world champion, the "Limestone Cowboy" Bob Anderson (9.30pm, Friday).
Also in action is Ipswich resident Keith Deller, also a former world champion, who is unseeded and takes on Dennis "The Menace" Priestley, ranked five (9.30pm,Thursday).
