Canvey Island Swimming Club's Adam Puddick is now targeting next year's World Deaf Games in Rome after another top medal haul in Poland.
Adam, 16, who lives in Wickford, returned from eastern Europe with a gold, a silver and two bronzes from his 400m freestyle displays for the British Deaf squad.
He emerged from the event ranked 16th in the world and 7th in Europe, and is now in full training for the World Deaf Games qualifiers in Belgium in February.
Adam, who attends Southend College, has been going to the Canvey club for four years and is very modest about his achievements. He has also won medals for Havering Herons, a swimming club for the disabled.
Mum Sue revealed: "I can't get my head through the door I'm so proud, but Adam doesn't like a fuss.
"He won't even take his medals down to the Canvey club to show the others, but I think he's really proud.
"He loves swimming and he's hoping to make the individual squad for Rome. If not he'll be happy just to be in the relays."
