For the third successive Ryman League Premier Division game Billericay Town struck in injury-time to gain some reward.

Previously, Gary Calder's men have scored late at Maidenhead United and against Canvey Island at home to gain all three points on offer.

At Heybridge on Tuesday Town might only have obtained a point from their frantic finale at a team on the fringes of the title race, but their comeback was probably the most breathtaking yet.

Billericay, down to ten men after Kevin Jordan was stretchered off with a knee injury 15 minutes from time when Calder had used all three subs previously, looked doomed to defeat as the game entered injury time.

In fact, the clock showed 95 minutes when Lee Williams latched onto Joe Baker's through ball to shoot in off the post with an angled drive.

Then, 60 seconds later, Simon Spencer got in front of the disbelieving home rearguard and beat the despairing dive of goalkeeper Kingsley Banks to score with a low shot.

Heybridge were without two former Billericay men, injured defender Gary Waters and flankman Chris Payne (suspended) but missed out on an early chance when usually reliable striker Simon Parker miscued.

Both sides were halted by the woodwork, hard-working midfielder Paul Linger suffering the fate for the visitors, before right-back Colin Wall sent over a low cross which Kris Lee nipped in to beat visiting goalkeeper Gavin King to at the near post after 35 minutes to make it 1-0.

Magnificent goalkeeping from Banks kept Heybridge in front. He parried in fine style from Linger and, when the rebound came in, combined with defender Andy Tomlinson to keep Justin Gentle's effort out.

However, that man Wall, who has had spells at Canvey and Billericay, sent over another cross that evaded King and saw Parker scramble home at the far post.

With Jordan going off injured, that looked like being the end of the road for Town's recent unbeaten run, but all that changed as Billericay - who have Chris Snowsill, who quit as Grays' boss last week, as their new assistant manager - launched another of those famous rallies they're becoming famous for.
