Liberal Democrat Bob Russell may have to take on the might of grey power after a new party dedicated to getting a better deal for pensioners has pledged to give the Colchester MP a "run for his money" at the next election.

The Grey Party was formed six months ago and sees Colchester as a "marginal seat" and an obvious choice to mount its challenge for a seat in Parliament.

Party leader Ray Cole said: "We have enormous support in the Colchester area. Initially, we thought we might just be there for the nuisance value, but we are now going in there to try to win it."
