Brentwood School's Under 19 netball team have won the county round of the all schools national championships for the first time and will now compete at the regional finals at Watford on January 27.
Competing at county level the girls held off a strong challenge from Boswells, of Chelmsford, who beat them in the pools match by a single goal.
But wins over Davenant and Colchester High Schools got Brentwood a place in the semi-finals where they comfortably beat Colchester 6th Form College.
In the final they lifted their attack and narrowly reversed their earlier defeat by Boswells.
The team comprised Amy Greenwood, Lucy Tappin, Caroline Monnickendam, Jo Stuchbury, Lauren Selby, Lucy Barker, Kelly Reid, Jenny Michael and Rachel Bagguley.
