Electricity suppliers say despite calls from villagers in the Stansted area, they have no plans to replace overhead power lines with underground cables.

The massive investigation and clean up operation following the Korean Airlines Boeing 747 aircrash one year ago was hampered by the lack of power supply as the stricken aircraft had taken down power lines.

Villagers have called for power cables in the area around Stansted to be underground to stop electricity from being cut off in the event of another accident.
