Colchester is and will continue to be a safe place to live thanks to a unique community partnership aimed at tackling crime and the fear of crime.
The Colchester Community Safety Partnership brought together the combined force of Colchester Council, Colchester police, Essex County Council and other local agencies, who in April last year launched a strategy with community safety at its heart - to make the town a safer place to live, work and visit.
The community safety strategy focused on five priority issues: to tackle priority crime and disorder issues identified by an audit; vulnerable groups in the community; drugs; youth and continued development of the partnership.
