A man left disabled by a road accident has been jailed for a year after committing indecent acts in front of two girls aged five and ten.

At Southend Crown Court, Gary Pearce, 38, of Union Lane, Rochford, admitted charges of indecency.

The acts began as part of a truth or dare. After committing vile acts, he later committed a sexual act while asking one of the girls to hold a porn magazine.

The following day he boasted of his behaviour to a barmaid at the Milestone Pub, Rochford, and then to another friend.

Judge Frank Lockhart told him: "This is a very difficult and very troubling case. Your behaviour that night was bizarre, revolting, disgusting and horrible for those very young children."

Pearce was represented by Noel Casey, who said his client was disturbed and needed help.

In 1993 he was involved in a major road accident which wrecked his life.

Until then he had a good job, a car and was in a successful relationship. Mr Casey said: "The accident changed his life overnight. He was in a coma for eight weeks on a life-support machine. He had six months of neuro-rehabilitation and had fractures all over his body.He cannot use his arms and hands properly and his speech is severely impaired. He has difficulty getting his words out."

On his release, Pearce will be on licence for five years and he will be on the sex offenders register for ten years.
