Tom Higgins, a member of the Gidea Park Tennis Club, continues to make progress in the world of full-time tennis.
This year he has competed in 12 Girobank Tour events which have provided him with valuable competitive experience.
By last week Higgins was standing in 11th position in the Girobank Tour Bonus Pool.
In his latest event in Hull he reached the quarter finals with wins over Steven Lockwood 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 and Robert Searle 6-1, 6-1 before falling to J. Murray in three sets.
Two weeks previously Higgins reached the semi-final stage at Wrexham, where he beat Ian Flanagan 6-3, 7-5, and David Sanger 6-3, 6-2 before losing to Chris Lewis 4-6, 6-7.
A week later Higgins avenged that defeat by beating Lewis when helping Essex win promotion from Group 2 of the LTA Winter Indoor Inter County Championship.
