Vandals left a trail of debris as they rampaged through a Colchester estate.
Police are linking a number of reports of vandalism centred on the Prettygate Road area.
Eight glass panels were smashed at Plume Avenue Reformed Church, causing £1,000 of damage.
A spokeswoman for the church said one of the broken windows had only just been replaced.
She added: "A lot of the panels were near the doors so there's now a lot of glass inside the church."
Newstead Estate Agents, in Prettygate Road, had two front windows smashed leaving £150 worth of damage.
Glass panels were also smashed on the front doors of Prettygate Library, also in Prettygate Road.
And a door window was broken at a person's home in Prettygate Road.
Colchester police spokesman, Det Sgt Roger Napier said: "I have no doubt at all that they are linked - it is a mindless thing that people do and they have all happened in one particular area."
