Chelmsford City manager Gary Bellamy welcomes back a key midfielder for City's Dr. Martens League Eastern Division clash at home to Banbury United tomorrow (Saturday), (kick-off 3pm) at Billericay.

Promising youngster Craig Newman, 18, is available again, as he is now free of work commitments.

Newman's inclusion in the squad will boost table-topping City's options as they look to take maximum points off the Eastern Division newcomers.

Fellow midfielder Sean Caton has also given the Clarets a lift by agreeing a further two-month loan spell from Heybridge Swifts.

Bellamy is naturally keen to see playmaker Freddie Hyatt, who played the first half of Wednesday's match against Erith & Belvedere, in full action again but said: ''The virus has taken a lot out of Freddie, but he is keen to get a full 90 minutes under his belt.''

With City's regular goalkeeper Paul Catley starting a two-match ban following his indiscretion during the controversial defeat at Grantham, Bellamy has signed Stuart Horne, 30, whose previous clubs include Enfield, Purfleet, Whyteleafe, Barking and Romford, on a short-term basis.

Bellamy had earlier in the week attempted to lure veteran Colin Lewington, a former City player, out of retirement but that move narrowly failed.

For Tuesday's Essex Senior Cup tie at Heybridge Swifts, the City line-up is expected to include a handful of promising fringe players, with the likes of Michael Cooper, Andrew Cummings and Chris Bryan poised to make an appearance.

Loanees are not permitted to play in the competition, thus ruling out Caton.

City's much-postponed League Cup tie at home to Hastings Town has been provisionally re-arranged for Wednesday, January 10 (7.45pm kick-off) but there is no new date for last weekend's washed out fixture at Witney Town.
