Police are investigating a Canvey millionaire over claims of alleged harrassment of a councillor.
However, Terry Holding, who owns car salvage plant HBC, insisted he stood by everything he had said.
Jenifer Howlett (Lab, St Peter's) spoke to officers after Mr Holding flew his plane over Castle Point trailing banners making criminal allegations against her.
Mrs Howlett confirmed she had contacted the police and had left the situation in their hands.
Superintendent Jim Noakes, of Rayleigh police said: "We can confirm the allegation of harassment made by Mrs Howlett is being actively investigated."
Mr Holding said: "If she's worried about her reputation she should take it to the High Court rather than call in the police. I won't retract one word of what I've said. I'm not in the least bit perturbed by this."
