COWARD CUP SECOND ROUND
On an awful pitch, Writtle led hosts Redstones 1-0 at the break and extended that to 3-0 in the second half before Paul Fletcher netted a deserved consolation goal.
For Writtle who confirmed their superior league status, Mark Gribble (2) and Pete Blackburn scored in a game that was well refereed by Bernie Oram.
Coggeshall Town survived a concerted effort from Broomfield before winning through 3-2.
Dave Moore's two goals gave Coggeshall a 2-1 interval lead, which was increased via Darren Grace's strike, before Broomfield pulled a goal back but the premier division side held on to progress.
PREMIER DIVISION
They were ready and willing to play at Woodham Town but unfortunately an embarrassed Little Waltham secretary, Gary Christopher was without seven players who simply didn't turn up, and the game was cancelled.
DIVISION TWO
Cherry Tree Sports Reserves beat Little Elms 7-4. Tree's Lee Farrow netted to level the scores at 1-1 at the interval, and there was no sign of the goal feast to follow.
Both sides scored three times in the second period to make it 4-4 before Tree gained the upper hand to win the game.
Tree's other scorers were Darren Farrow (2), Brian Payne (2), Dan Christie and Daryn England.
DIVISION THREE
Highfield Victoria maintained their unbeaten league record after drawing 1-1 with Fyfield Lion Reserves .
Vics took the lead, Peter Hammond converting a penalty after John Button had been brought down, but Fyfield battled back to equalise late on.
DIVISION FOUR
ECC Staff led Directa Hotspur 2-0 after 20 minutes but the referee then called an end to the proceedings as conditions deteriorated.
