In their latest Women's National League Division Three match, Chelmsford Partners Women stayed on course for the title with a 3-0 win over Camden to go into the Christmas break unbeaten in the league
Chelmsford had a full squad to call on for the match at Anglia University against a Camden side lying mid-table.
With Camden captain Karen Elliot, a former Partners player, losing the toss, Partners took an early lead on the back of some fine serving by Blackmore.
Marshall for Camden led the fightback and when Chelmford's Yeung came round to serve with her side 10-8 up, it looked like it was going to be a long set.
Just five minutes later, and still serving Yeung had almost single -handedly taken the score to set point at 24-8.
She served flat and fast but alternated her length so that Camden were always guessing where the ball would go, and an ace to finish set was the cherry on the cake.
In the second set, Camden upped their game and with the Chelmsford attack strangely out of sorts, setters Morris and Heaton were unable to fire up any resistance.
Chelmsford servers were met with resolute first ball and playing their best volleyball of the day, Camden took an early lead.
At 19-13 Blackmore's block saw Yeung come on to serve again, but even she could only take the scores level.
By now the addition of Angus to the Partners side was beginning to have an effect as her immaculate back court play was complemented by intelligent front court use of the ball.
Chelmsford stole the last few points to take the set 25-22, far too close for the difference in quality between the sides.
Another poor start by Partners, who were unable to take control of a spinning windmill serve from Marshall, required them to raise the standard after going 5-1 down.
The team obliged with Yeung and Angus picking out gaps in the defence while Blackmore dispensed with subtlety and just blasted the ball through the Camden block.
A quiet but competent game from Taylor meant Partners were always ahead from 9-9, taking the set 25-19 for a 3-0 win.
Referees Bohannan and Harris decided on Elaine Yeung for the Ken Pearce player-of-the-match award, citing her good first ball and outstanding serving.
Chelmsford go into the break leading the Division and still in the National Plate competition with a January match against bottom-of-the -table Warwick making them favourites to reach the next round.
