In the Premier Division of the Brentwood & District Table Tennis League, Billericay Sports lost 7-3 to visitors Buttsbury, for whom Reagan Nettlingham was outstanding.

Brentwood suffered a defeat at the hands of New Post Inn. The combination of Steve Woodley, Keith Phillips and Chris Aukett edged a narrow victory despite the efforts of Steve Rand who put up a terrific fight by winning all his three singles for Brentwood.

In division one, the Hutton trio of Peter Saunders, John Darling and Derek Lloyd had a comfortable victory against newly promoted South Weald B.

Division two saw Herongate defeat St Nicholas 6-4. This match contained some close results and could have gone either way.

Game 9 was perhaps the turning point where Martin Winter beat Sid Siveyer in the third match after the second had been narrowly taken, 25-23, by Siveyer. For St Nicholas Roy Barnes was a model of consistency.

In division three, Mountnessing overcame Highwood B 7-3 with Mountnessing's Bruno Handel and John Hickey winning all their singles and combining well to beat Ron Arthur and Martin Goddard in the doubles.

In the Knockout Cup the Selo team of John Mulley , Arthur Paine and Joan Cook defeated the Buttsbury trio of Bill Nutbrown, Clive Owen and Joyce Bassett.

The Handicap Cup saw some close results. Buttsbury F beat Billericay TTC D 5-4. Mike Hefferman and Elliot Hawthorn of Buttsbury overcame nerves and edged the last two matches to clinch victory.

Warley Stars A, Bill Wall, Alan Arnold and Nigel Lamb, beat Hutton C, Wall winning his two singles matches to ease Stars to a comfortable victory.
