The winter season started slowly for the Harwich Foot Ferry with just one passenger braving the trip across to Felixstowe.
Ferry man Chris Spraggons opened the winter weekend service last weekend, running a scheduled route between Harwich and Suffolk on Saturday and Sunday.
But the reception to the winter service was frosty on its first outing and Mr Spraggons said: "We just had one passenger but it is the start of the service and I hope things will get better."
The ferry runs from the Ha'penny Pier at Harwich to Felixstowe West Beach where it beaches itself before the return journey.
Mr Spraggons said: "We are undeterred, it was just the first week and we will be carrying on, people have got to know about it first."
