Spare places at Writtle College's planned new children's nursery will be available to the villagers, it has been announced.
The first 100 places will be for the children of students at the land-based technology centre in Lordship Road but any remaining may be filled by village children aged from three months.
Work on the site from the New Year is expected to be complete by next July with the first children arriving with their parents starting the academic year next September.
Students will be subsidised for their childrens' use of the Busy Bees Child Care run centre and there will also be holiday schemes.
The college will surround the premises with a sensory garden, childrens' play area and pets corner.
It is also planned that the college itself will include childcare course on the curriculum.
