An urgent call for help has been made to the people of Harold by Havering Victim Support.
The group provides free confidential support and information to victims of crime in Harold and the borough of Havering.
According to Havering Victim Support Co-ordinator Jenny Scargill, most victims do not suffer long term harm.
But both adults and children can be seriously affected by crime and often need help to recover, whether it be through reassurance, emotional support, information, help with compensation claims or simply someone to talk to.
Jenny said: "We are urgently looking for volunteers who are understanding and good listeners and who can get on with people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.
"Anyone can apply and we would welcome applications from all members of our diverse community.
"Most people volunteer for Victim Support because they want to help people. Volunteers are rewarded by seeing the difference Victim Support can make to people."
All volunteers will receive training, supervision and out of pocket expenses. The amount of time required is flexible and working with victims of crime can help develop skills, which can be used in other areas of life.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer call Jenny Scargill on 01708 451000.
