The brother of Harwich MP Ivan Henderson has formed his own political party - and plans to stand for election in the county council elections next year.
Steven Henderson and his Harwich Community Representatives Group have paid out £150 to change the name and become the Community Representative Party.
Steven said there are no plans at present for him to stand against his brother in a General Election.
Steven said: "I would not stand against Ivan. Not now, but if someone came in and wanted to use our name then I would not stop them."
Ivan is the constituency's first Labour MP.
Until now Steven, a Harwich town councillor, has always said the representatives group is non-political, dealing simply with local issues for voters who have lost interest with the major parties.
Steven insists the change to party status does not change this stance.
He said the group was forced to become registered because of new legislation - the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Bill - which says all groups of independents must become parties.
