Little Waltham retained the league leadership following Saturday's two wicket win over visitors Springfield.

The visitors were restricted to 166 for eight with Dave Curtis (55) and Darren Ely (30) leading the way with the bat, and Martin De'ath taking three wickets.

Dave Parry was prominent in the reply, as his 76 helped Waltham to 170 for eight, and Andy Barrett took three for 24.

High Roding edged closer to the leaders after their five wicket win over Old Chelmsfordians .

Rob Iliffe scored 84 not out as the old boys were dismissed for 170, while J Clark bowled well to take three for 28 in 12 overs.

Chris Tredgett then scored an unbeaten 68 as Roding made 173 for five with 16 overs to spare.

Aythorpe Roding are just three points behind the leaders after Saturday's narrow win at Great Waltham .

Gary Bloom scored 90, Phil Whettell 32 and Paul Allen 38 as Waltham totalled 232 for nine. Liam Rosewall took four for 74 and Neil Culleton three for 53.

Aythorpe passed their target, with just an over to spare. Richard Dunmow scored 81not out, Steve Dove-Dixon 66 and Paul Gravatt 40 as the visitors reached 236 for five for a five wicket success.

Stock made 224 for four against South Woodham Ferrers , with Ian Turner scoring 103 not out, Simon Garmes 41 and Stuart Pinkerton 30.

Woodham were then bowled out for 199, Matt Bridger (49) top scoring while Phil Mellon took four for 42.

The result of the Tillingham v Bentley match was not submitted.

Division One: Corringham lose out to Kirkpatrick's 107

Second-in-the-table Hatfield Peverel entertained leaders Corringham and Dave Kirkpatrick (107) and Luke Stephens (52) helped Hatfield to a 268 for six total.

Corringham's reply saw M Bridger score 77 and Hutchison 57 as their side were bowled out for 246, and in retaining their unbeaten record this summer, Hatfield have moved to the top of the table.

South Weald moved into second place after their six wicket win at Great Baddow .

Baddow totalled 206 for seven, Devine scoring an excellent 79 and Wilson 32.

The Weald reply closed on 209 for four with Ankers scoring 55 and Davey an unbeaten 54.

Ingatestone made 223 for nine at Galleywood , the feature being an opening partnership of 111 between Warren (54) and Lodge 65. Blowers took four for 46.

Gareth Ely hit a magnificent 98 in the reply as Galleywood reached 226 for four with nine overs to spare. Mark Ollings added 47 and Steve Dupree hit a solid 37 while Smith (3-64) was the pick of the Ingatestone bowlers.

Nick Goodey hammered 159 to get Laindon Taverners out of trouble and to a total of 265 againstGreat Wakering .

The visitors were held back early on but Joe Murray's unbeaten 90 helped them on to 221 for nine, Dave Mulhoon took four for 34 in 12 overs.

Writtle's 176 for eight proved to be enough at Paradise Road, as they beat Danbury by six runs.

David Morgan (54) and John Cook (40) batted well, while Danbury's fielding was commendable with four run-outs.

James Banfield (86no) was prominent in the reply which closed on 170 for eight, Matthew Spinks taking five for 44 in 12 overs.

Division Two: Spencer the star as Totham triumph

After being put in by Great Totham, hosts Rayleigh soon found themselves in trouble, as they lost their first four wickets for just two runs.

However, a fifth wicket partnership of 140 between opener Phil Wolff (96 no) and Andy Thorogood (40) pulled the innings round and, with Tony Catling blasting a 19 ball 44, a total of 204 for six was eventually reached.

However this score proved insufficient as Peter Spencer (66) and Ollie Kendall (38 no) helped to guide their team to victory with a reply of 207 for four.

In Saturday's top of the table clash at High Easter , Great Burstead amassed 199 for nine, Brown scoring 35 and Reid 25, while Paul Bentley took four for 27 in 12 overs,

In the response A. Chester (78) and Phil Bentley (60) saw High Easter to a comfortable 176 for one at which point the innings tottered as five wickets fell without addition to the score.

However the tail wagged and the hosts finally reached 200 for six, thus sending Burstead to their first league defeat since June 1999.

Woodham Mortimer travelled to Burnham Sports and, with Eaton scoring 74 and Brock and Mason 26 apiece, they reached 199 for seven, Barnes returning two for 38 in 12 overs.

After tea, the home side's batsmen were in fine form and, led by M. Sach (61), Rob Layzell (59) and S. Smith (33 no), they reached their target in the 39th over for the loss of just three wickets.

Terling took first knock against visitors Little Baddow and totalled 218 all out, with skipper Phil Palmer scoring 87 and Darren Lewis 29.

G. Mayhew took four for 60 in 12 overs and R. Redman two for 15 in four overs.

Robinson (51) and Mayhew (41) led the reply, but the target proved 12 runs too many as Andy Stevens (1-8 in five overs) Kevin Poppy (2-11 in six overs) and Phil Palmer (2-29 in nine overs) saw the visitors dismissed for 206.

Despite the flat wicket at Broomfield , Ekco Monarchs struggled to make runs, and totalled just 154 for three in their allotted overs with C. Simpson scoring 53.

This total was unlikely ever to be enough and so it proved as J. O'Riordan (78) and G. Mason (64 no) in an opening partnership of 144, guided their team to 157 for one in just 27 overs.
