Several of Brentwood Swimming Clubs younger members were in action at the recent Stone Trophy Gala at Southend.

Up against strong competition they swam superbly, especially considering that many were competing for the first time and they battled on to finish third overall on the night.

In many tough races individual first places came from Hayley Camis u/10 1l back, Roberto Pavoni u/10 1l back, Billy Bolton u/11 1l back, and Daniel Hunt u/12 1l back.

The boys u/12 relay team of Billy Bolton, Andrew Cowing, Daniel Phillips and Daniel Hunt were unbeatable in the freestyle and medley relays as were the boys u/13 freestyle team of Andrew Barr, Daniel Phillips, Joe Skeels and Matthew Tarbard.

Close second places were achieved by Ryan Cogdale u/10 1l fly, Claire Garlick u/11 1l breast, Emily Griffin u/12 1l breast, Sophie Moucarry u/12 1l fly, Daniel Phillips u/12 1l fly & freestyle, Andrew Barr u/13 1l fly, Andrew Cowing u/13 1l breast and Lauren Cogdale u/14 1l fly.

The team swam well together and with team spirit and support high, there were no disqualifications.

The gala result was close between second to sixth with Canvey Island emerging as the clear winners.
