The Magnus company of Brentwood, Vauxhall main dealers, have again demonstrated their tangible support for Youth Cricket by sponsoring the Hutton Colts Cricket Teams for the 2000 season.
Mike Walker the club chairman said that Magnus have been generous and consistent sponsors for a number of years and their support will enable Hutton CC to continue to field teams from under 11 through to under 17.
Thanks to this support the club provides coaching and practice on two evenings per week and a full programme of league and cup competitive cricket at weekends and mid-week during school holidays. Indoor practice and coaching is arranged during the winter.
The club now has 100 colts members and 50 members between the ages of 16 and 21. The Saturday Senior League teams have over 90 per cent of players who have come up through the Colts and Junior teams.
Hutton CC's young players have consistently represented the County and District teams in all age groups and in particular during the last year, David Hammond has represented both the County and the South of England under 14's.
Gareth O'Dell has been selected for Essex under 10's with Jamie Vanner and Nicky Vanner and Bobby Bull representing the District teams.
Several of the club's young players have gone on to further education and represented their Universities and Colleges.
Andy Clarke, who came up through the Colts and Juniors, was the leading wicket-taker with the MCC last year and is now playing for the Essex second eleven.
Young players who may be interested in join ing Hutton CC should in the first instance telephone Malcolm Wright, the Colts organiser on 01277 373842.
