Local groups, organisations, churches and schools have until Tuesday June 27 to send in their team entry for the 'Spread the Net' 24 hour Internet Competition which will be held on Saturday July 1.
The competition is open to all young people, aged 11-25, and is free to enter.
Organised by Havering Council's Youth and Community Service, the event will be held at Century Youth House, Albert Road, Romford.
Teams of up to five people are needed for the competition. Each team will be given two hours access to a computer during which time they will aim to get as many people from around the world into their 'chat rooms'.
At the end of the 24 hour 'marathon' the team with the greatest number of people will win an internet ready computer.
Project co-ordinator Matthew Huggins said: "Interest from groups across the borough has been encouraging, but there's still room for more to take part.
"To give our competitors a head start, we have contacted over 200 British Embassies across the world to check they can be contacted during the competition."
For more information and to enter a team, contact Matthew Huggins on 01708 751656.
