Southend High School for Boys pupils will be in top gear when they defend their phenomenal record of success on Friday at the annual Borough Senior Schools Athletic Championships at Garon's Park.
The Prittlewell Chase School, who have dominated the event for decades, will have all contestants sporting brand new tracksuits courtesy of the Parents' Association.
The tracksuits were handed over to the deputy head Paul Hayman by PA chairman Andrew Zoers at a special assembly.
This week's date starts a hectic athletic spell for Southend High, who are at Gloucester Park, Basildon, on Saturday week for the National Track and Field Cup final, where both junior and intermediate boys have won through.
On the right tracks - Southend High for Boys deputy head Paul Hayman receives one of the new tracksuits from Parents' Association chairman Andrew Zoers while pupils (left to right) Daniel Schade, Matthew Gadd and Robert Kay, all 13, look on.

West Leigh make splash
The swim boys and girls of West Leigh School dived for glory in the National Primary Schools swimming Championships.
In the area competition both teams qualified to compete in the national final at Sheffield where famous sporting school Millfield provided the opposition.
In action for West Leigh, who are based in Ronald Hill Grove, Leigh, were Oliver Mountstephens, Oliver Pacey, James Dobson, Richard Redding, Mitchell Acreman, Natasha Elliott, Francesca Fenton, Katie Harris, Christiana Botziou and Anna-Marie Clarke.
The youngsters receive coaching from swimming teachers Caroline Grange and Gillian Griffith.

Athletics starlets at Fayre opening
Shoebury's Thorpedene Primary School decided to "keep it in the family" when it came to decide who should open their annual summer fayre.
For they shunned the usual line-up of local and national personalities or dignitaries to ask current and former up-and-coming sports star pupils to carry out the task.
The quartet who broke through the tape to declare the event open included three who are now at Southend High School, Kristina Marshall (13) and the 12-year-old duo of Adam Hickey and David Crichton, all of whom have achieved major national and county athletics success on the school and club scene.
The trio all belong to Southend Athletic Club and have also gained sporting distinction in the swim world as members of the Borough of Southend squad based at Warrior Square.
Thorpedene's own current crop of sporting successes were not forgotten and were represented by seven-year-old infants pupil Laura Gosling, who has achieved tennis glory at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre and was recently a winner for Essex in a short tennis encounter at Cambridge.
On your marks - Thorpedene sporting stars, (left to right) Adam Hickey, David Crichton, Kristina Marshall and Laura Gosling break the tape as junior head Mark Williams and his infants' counterpart Anthea Meek look on.
