Colchester Harriers' race walking champion Dominic King has moved another step closer to a World Junior Championship place.

Dominic, 17, shaved 52 seconds off of his personal best in the third European Race Walking Championships in Eisenhuttenstadt, Germany.

He recorded a time of 45 minutes three seconds over the 10km course, putting him a considerable step closer to the world championship qualifying time of 44.30mins.

He finished 27th in Sunday's race, which included athletes from 30 different nations and took place in blistering temperatures.

He was the top British athlete, beating off the challenges of rivals Lloyd Finch and Thomas Taylor.

The World Championships take place in Chile in October.

Dominic's twin brother Daniel came home in second place in a 5km Essex League race in Southend at the weekend.
