Popular former world heavyweight champ Frank Bruno has confirmed his ten-year-marriage to wife Laura is over.
A joint statement issued today (Tuesday) by the couple, who share a mansion in Stondon Massey near Brentwood, said: "It is with great sadness and the deepest regret that we confirm that our relationship has broken down.
"We will do everything as amicably as possible and we ask that the media will respect our privacy for the sake of the children. We wish to make it clear that we will make no further comment.''
It is understood the couple are planning to divorce and no one else is involved in the break-up. They have been together for 20 years and have three children.
In 1997 the couple's marriage was reported to be in trouble and family lawyer Henri Brandman issued a statement at the time saying there were difficulties but they were not contemplating separation or divorce.
In 1995 Bruno became the third British boxer to hold a world heavyweight title after beating Oliver McCall at Wembley.
