Crowds lined the streets of Brightlingsea for the town's 49th annual town carnival.
Hundreds took part in the procession featuring floats, steam engines, marching bands and members of local organisations on foot.
Musical entertainment was provided by the Brightlingsea Church Lads, Church Girls' Brigade and Colchester Scout Band.
More than £900 was raised in the street collection, up £200 on last year.
Eleven carnival queens entered the competition.
Results of the float entries and competitions were:
Carnival queen, 1st Braintree and Bocking, 2nd Walton on the Naze, 3rd Hornsey; best float overall, Nursery Days ; best licensed premises, Rosebud; best organistation, Royal British Legion; best youth floats, 1st 5th Brownies, 2nd Church Lads and Church Girls' Brigade, 3rd Nursery Days; best working groups, 4th Brightlingsea Cubs and Beavers; best visiting vehicle, Mrs Nevard, traction engine; best children's fancy dress, 1st Thomas Mitson, 2nd Lavinia Faint; best equestrian, Kate Mullholland with pony and cart.
