A girl with Down's syndrome who was the first pupil with the condition to attend her primary school is set to become a pioneer again - this time at secondary school.
Kelly Wright, 11, of Harvey Road, was the first pupil with Down's syndrome to attend Gobecks Primary School in Colchester when she started there six years ago.
At the time she was one of just a handful of children with Down's in Essex going into mainstream education.
And with just six weeks before she leaves the school, she is now looking forward to being the first Down's student to attend Alderman Blaxill.
